OKTO Welcomes Roy Chuck, M.D., Ph.D.
to Surgical Advisory Board as Key Medical Consultant
COSTA MESA, California – September 20, 2002 –
OKTO Ophtho, the premier developer and distributor of specialty technologies
for eye surgery, announced today the addition of Roy S. Chuck, M.D.
Ph.D to its Surgical Advisory Board.
Dr. Chuck has been contracted to consult and advise OKTO on a variety
of medical, clinical and regulatory affairs.
Dr. Roy Chuck, a UC Berkeley trained engineer, graduated from Columbia
University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1993 with an M.D.,
Ph.D.
From 1997 to 1998, he served as Chief Resident and faculty member
at Washington Hospital/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. In June 1999,
Dr. Chuck completed a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at
the Doheny Eye Institute/University of Southern California.
Dr. Chuck is now uniquely positioned at the University California
at Irvine as both a professor of the Ophthalmology and Biomedical
Engineering departments. Dr. Chuck’s focus is in cellular,
molecular and laser-based biophysical studies. In addition, he has
a strong clinical research interest in ocular surface transplantation
and sight restoration.
