Stephen Pflugfelder, M.D., Leader in Ocular Surface Surgery
& Research, Accepts Position on OKTO Surgical Advisory Board
COSTA MESA, California – December 1, 2002 –
OKTO Ophtho, the premier developer and distributor of specialty technologies for eye surgery, today announced the addition of Stephen Pflugfelder, M.D. to its Surgical Advisory Board.
Dr. Pflugfelder is currently a Professor for the Department of Ophthalmology, Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is a world-renown surgeon and international symposia speaker, with a recognized expertise in corneal and ocular surface diseases and surgeries.
Dr. Pflugfelder received a B.A. from Colgate University and a M.D. from SUNY-Upstate Medical College. He did his residency in Ophthalmology with the Department of Ophthalmology, Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine and had fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease at the Department of Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine.
Dr. Pflugfelder has authored over 130 publications and is currently a Member of the Editorial Board for Cornea, Ocular and Cutaneous Toxicology and a guest editor for Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Preferred Practice Pattern Committee on corneal and ocular surface diseases and surgery. Additionally, he serves on the Corneal Study Section of the National Eye Institute.
Dr. Pflugfelder has been named as one of the "Best Doctors in America" in a survey of physicians and serves on the Corneal Study Section of the National Eye Institute.
